The ruins of Baalbek. The sight is very well perserved, despite its historically turbulent history. During the Lebanese Civil War, the ruins were used to store munitions. Later Hizbellah used the surrounding area as a training site. These camps exist to this day. I had the opportunity to visit one of these camps and was surprised at how CLOSE it was to the ruins. One Israeli airstrike could have wiped away the camp AND the ruins...
