This ugly and garish building is a Cao Dai Temple. The Cao Dai religion was founded in the early 1920's as an attempt to synthesize the world's major religions. It began and continues to flourish in the Southern Vietnam provinces. It's pantheon of saints include Christ, Muhammad and... Victor Hugo, Lenin, and Joan of Arc. Yeah.... I don't get it either.. |
